The University of Iowa Mathematics Department organizes an annual Sonia Kovalevsky High School Mathematics Day. High-school-aged women, along with their teachers and parents or guardians are invited to a day-long program featuring workshops, interactive talks, panels of professionals with math-related jobs and fun math games. The goal of SK Day is to stimulate young women's interest in mathematics, and encourage them to pursue a career in math and science. We hope to inspire young women by providing female role models in math and science fields, and educating them about potential career options.
Sonia Kovalevsky Day is an opportunity to engage female students in a day of networking, mentoring, and fun! There is no cost to attend the event, and there are opportunities to win prizes, and meet and dine with university professors and students.
